General Description
The STAR Team Internship is a 12-14 week summer program designed for undergraduate students interested in data analytics, management and reporting. Interns at the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation gain hands-on experience working on a variety of projects that assist the enterprise. Our team provides high value analyses that enable decision making for the entire USNAAAF enterprise and our customers on the Yard.
This is a non-exempt, temporary position for the summer intern season (May-Aug 2026). The hourly rate is $15.00 per hour. The intern position will report to the Assistant Director, Gift Funds Compliance.
This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation moved into new modern offices in the Alumni Center, which are on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for two major projects:
- Preparation and delivery of STAR Gift Fund Training packages to our USNA Gift Fund recipient organizations.
- Creation, test and implementation of AI agents using MS Copilot to automate repetitive tasks and improve workflow.
Program Structure
- Duration: 12-14 weeks (May–August)
- Format: In-person
- Weekly Commitment: 35-40 hours/week
This position will work with and take direction from the Assistant Director, Gift Fund Administration & Oversight, along with the Executive Director – STAR Team.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare Gift Fund Training sheets, locate and attach Gift Agreements and ensure delivery to the appropriate USNA customers, including the office of the Provost, Admissions, and Gift Fund Managers.
- Working together with the Assistant Director, create, test and implement of several agents in MS CoPilot to automate Gift Fund training tasks and key updates to USNA departments that have larger gift fund portfolios.
- Learn the fundamentals of our Gift Fund oversight program and how that impacts our customers internally, within USNA, and within the Donor community.
- Attend All Hands meetings held by the Foundation and the enterprise-wise All Hands meetings led by our CEO.
- Learn about working within a professional organization, how to manage time to successfully complete assignments and will receive mentoring that will help them be ready to hit the ground running when they join the workforce post-college.
- At the conclusion of the internship, create a presentation showcasing the knowledge and skills gained throughout the summer and present it to the Enterprise.
- Network with other interns, team members, and organizational leaders.
- Enjoy Enterprise and Intern Summer events throughout the duration of the internship.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Direct, Gift Fund Management & Reporting.
Qualifications:
- Rising Collegiate Junior or Senior
- Able to work 35-40 hours per week for the duration of the internship in our offices, located in the beautiful Fluegel Alumni Center in Annapolis, MD
- Experience working with MS Office Suite – particularly MS Excel spreadsheets, along with Adobe PDF documents and fillable forms. Proficiency with PowerPoint may help in creating the final presentation for the internship
- Able to work independently on assigned projects after training and with ongoing support from Supervisor
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
