The Foundation Marketing & Communications Intern provides creative and project support for Foundation-wide marketing initiatives, including campaign materials, digital content, donor-facing communications, and print production. This role assists with preparing visual assets, organizing campaign materials, and supporting execution of marketing efforts that strengthen donor engagement and advance Foundation priorities. The internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, branding, and communications strategy within a higher education advancement environment.
This is a non-exempt, temporary position for the summer intern season (May-Aug 2026). The hourly rate is $15.00 per hour. The intern position will report to the Associate Director, Development Communications.
This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation moved into new modern offices in the Alumni Center, which are on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Foundation communications staff to prepare and organize digital and print marketing materials supporting fundraising initiatives.
- Assist with layout preparation and updates to donor-facing materials such as proposals, presentations, and campaign collateral.
- Support development of graphics for social media campaigns and digital outreach using established templates and brand standards.
- Help prepare print-ready files and coordinate revisions during production of direct mail and stewardship materials.
- Assist with organizing and maintaining campaign asset libraries and creative files.
- Conduct light research on peer institutions and marketing examples to support campaign planning and creative development.
- Support coordination of project timelines and documentation related to Foundation marketing initiatives.
- Assist with additional communications and design-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, Digital Media, or a related field.
- Preferred junior or senior standing in college.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or similar design tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow creative direction and incorporate feedback.
- Interest in marketing campaigns, branding, and nonprofit or higher education communications.
- Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn in a collaborative environment.
- Show grit, work with enthusiasm, think with intellect, and act with honesty and humility.
- Dedication to growth and professional development with openness to coaching and mentoring.
- Able and willing to perform or assist with other duties as assigned.
