General Description
The Digital Media & Photography Intern will support the team's digital media, visual storytelling, and communications initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience across content creation, digital asset management, and publishing workflows while contributing to projects that strengthen engagement and storytelling efforts.
This is a non-exempt, temporary position for the summer intern season (May-Aug 2026). The hourly rate is $15.00 per hour. The intern position will report to the Director, Digital Communications.
This position is based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation moved into new modern offices in the Alumni Center, which are on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

Key Responsibilities
- Help organize and maintain the media photo gallery, ensuring metadata is accurate and complete
- Curate and prepare photos for use across projects, campaigns, and publications
- Contribute to Shipmate magazine production, with opportunities to have original content published
- Add and integrate photography into pre-produced video content
- Capture photography at events both on and off the Yard
- Offload media from SD cards and other formats while maintaining a consistent file naming structure
- Support metadata collection and entry within the Digital Asset Management system
- Participate in digital storytelling efforts, including social media, website updates, and the daily newsletter
- Support initiatives that improve content organization and searchability on the usna.com website
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in photography, media production, or communications
- Familiarity with content organization or digital asset management concepts
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

This internship provides exposure to the full lifecycle of digital storytelling-from capturing and organizing media to publishing across platforms-while building practical skills in content creation, digital asset management, and strategic communications.
