The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation in Annapolis, Maryland is seeking an hourly Annual Giving Programs Intern to support our Annual Giving Programs for the summer. The Annual Giving Programs team works to raise unrestricted dollars for the Naval Academy through the Naval Academy Fund. The Naval Academy Fund is a versatile unrestricted fund that allows the Superintendent flexibility to meet emerging needs of the Academy and underwrites mission-critical activities of the U. S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation to serve the Academy and all alumni. This position is non-exempt and reports to the Director, Annual Giving Programs.


This position is the primary team member responsible for ensuring that nearly 2,000 parents are accurately added to the database. Data entry is the first step in allowing the Annual Programs team to connect with, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from the parents of current Naval Academy midshipmen. We are based in historic Annapolis at our current offices located overlooking the Severn River on the beautiful grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy. In 2023, the staff of the Alumni Association and Foundation will move into new modern offices in the Alumni Center, which are currently under construction on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

Responsibilities

The Annual Giving Programs Intern will assist the Annual Giving team in a variety of ways including:

  • Data entry into Blackbaud CRM
  • Handle special projects and assume additional duties as assigned
  • Assist with annual giving and office-wide events as necessary
  • Available during normal office hours Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm

Qualifications

  • Working towards bachelor's degree from an accredited college
  • Clear attention to detail and organization
  • Have an interest in:
    • Database entry
    • Gaining professional experience
    • Higher education fundraising/non-profits
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information
  • A sincere and enthusiastic belief in the mission of the U.S. Naval Academy
