ST.A.R is the strategic team that guides, advises, and implements business intelligence, data modeling and data project management for the USNA Alumni Association and Foundation. Our vision as the Strategy Analytics and Reporting Team is to be drivers and collaborators of strategic fundraising, engagement and business operations. We set the tone and environment for our team to achieve success, supporting the "Strategic Plan 2030" for the Naval Academy and Brigade of Midshipmen.

The position is part of a highly collaborative and energetic team, all driven to advance the USNA Foundation and Alumni Association mission and committed to personal and professional development. Our team works closely to think strategically, address opportunities and challenges, and seek ways to improve group and individual performance. This exempt position reports to the Director, Information Management and Reporting and is the primary data steward and requirements analyst for the Enterprise.

The Assistant Director, Information Management and Reporting plays an integral role in supporting the Enterprise data governance by maintaining and improving the quality and integrity of the Enterprise data, including implementing guidelines and standards to guide data entry, change management, and creating processes and procedures for data management and reporting. Additionally, this position serves as the analyst that gathers information requirements from the different units and provides support by analyzing operational business flow, determining business needs for systems functional changes, obtaining and documenting users' requirements, and assisting in information design and data analysis.

This position pays a competitive salary commensurate with experience and is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, when applicable. This position is based in historic Annapolis at our new offices at the newly constructed Fleugel Alumni Center, built on the banks of College Creek overlooking the Naval Academy and downtown Annapolis.

EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION

Data Governance

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director of STAR and the Director, Information Management, develop, monitor and enforce the data governance policies and procedures, including the standard procedures for tracking and monitoring data across the enterprise.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain the master data catalog and data and meta data dictionary.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to determine the data points, data types, and sources of data to track and translate and implement those requirements in the enterprise applications.

Data Quality

  • Ensure the consistent and routine append of data that support and enrich the Enterprise's engagement and fundraising activities, including but not limited to
    • Employment appends
    • Deceased appends
    • Email, phone, and address append
    • Relationships append
  • Ensure the integrity of incoming data from the data ecosystem, inluding but not limited to ThankTank, RNL, Evertrue, Givecampus, etc.
  • Monitor data quality, consistency and integrity to ensure data supports the enterprise business models.
  • Manage change management, ensuring all data decisions are evaluated, communicated properly and serve the enterprise busines purposes.
  • In coordination with the Enterprise IT team, evaluate adjustments to processes regarding demographic updates, solicitation coding, primary contact information identification, etc.

Reporting

  • Under the direction of the Director, create, and maintain queries, export definitions, OData links and reports within the Blackbaud CRM
  • Using BBCRM generate data exports and reports in support of mailings, solicitations, and invitations, as well as create queries and reports to disseminate information to appropriate staff members, including gift officers, management, donor relations, research, etc.
  • Assist the Director, developing dashboards and reports within Excel, PowerBI, Tableau and other visualization tools.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

  • Proficient with MS Office, Office 365 including teams, power automate, share point, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
